TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS review
The Ticwatch Pro 3 distinguishes itself in the crowded smartwatch market with its innovative dual-display technology and robust performance, underpinned by the Snapdragon 4100 processor. This combination not only offers a smooth and responsive user experience but also contributes to the watch’s exceptional battery life. You can expect up to 72 hours in Smart Mode, and an impressive 45 days in Essential Mode, which utilises a low-power display for basic watch functions.
Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra is one of the most advanced smartwatches in the TicWatch series, known for its unique dual-layer display technology and robust performance.
TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 Platform and TicWatch makers proprietary Mobvoi Dual Processor system. It has 1GB of RAM memory and 8GB of ROM storage. Together it delivers faster and smoother performance and connectivity. The case is rather bulky complete with knurled stainless-steel bezel perfect for those who like chunky watches. It houses a 1.4-inch AMOLED screen (454 x 454 pixel resolution) with auto brightness adjustment and a secondary FSTN display with customisable colourful backlight. To protect the screens, Corning Gorilla Anti-fingerprint cover glass is used.
It excels in real time fitness and health data tracking with 24 hours continuous Heart Rate Tracking and Fatigue Assessment. The advanced heart rate sensor monitors heart rate accurately in real-time when you are active and at rest. Heart rate changes can also be logged on a weekly graph and sent an alert if it detects any unusual heart rate changes. Assess mental fatigue and track your daily energy levels. Beyond the heart rate monitor and fatigue assessment, there are the sleep tracker, blood oxygen saturation sensor, stress monitor, barometer, step counter built-in GPS, speaker and microphone.
The IP68 waterproof case also means you can go swimming in it. That and over 100 workout modes are included in the professional workouts, both indoor and outdoor that the watch is capable of tracking. Location technology includes GPS, Beidou, Glonass, Galileo and QZSS for trekking, cycling and other outdoor activities.

What we love about the Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra
A major advantage of the Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra is its comprehensive health and fitness tracking capabilities, including heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and an array of sensors to support outdoor activities. The watch’s IP68 water resistance rating adds to its versatility, allowing you to engage in a variety of exercises without worry.
However, the one feature that makes it truly stands out is the dual display. Layering a power saving FSTN display over its super bright AMOLED is an innovative move. This is not only user friendly, offering always-on type display with essential information but prolongs the battery life. Both displays perform admirably outdoor. Ticwatch calls the LCD screen the essential mode with fitness focused features and the full colour multi-touch AMOLED screen the smart mode being powered by Google’s Wear OS.
The Smart Mode gives you access to all of Wear OS’s features and if enabled continuously, you get up to 72 hours (3 days) battery life. Wear OS gives you access to Google Assistant, instant notifications and quick replies, tilt-to-wake feature, contactless payments, built-in GPS, built-in sports mode and access to thousands of apps via Play Store directly on the watch.
If you must know, enabling Essential mode only leaves you with date, time, steps tracker and 24 hours heart rate monitoring. The screen is readable even under high sunlight but most importantly, it pushes the battery life up to 45 days.
Pros:
- Dual-Layer Display: Offers a brilliant AMOLED display for smart mode and a power-saving FSTN display for essential mode, enhancing battery life and visibility in bright sunlight.
- Performance: Powered by the Snapdragon Wear 4100, it provides a smooth and fast user experience, capable of handling multiple applications and activities efficiently.
- Extended Battery Life: The ability to last up to 72 hours on a single charge in Smart Mode and extend significantly in Essential Mode is a significant advantage for prolonging the battery life.
- Comprehensive Health Tracking: Offers a wide range of health and fitness tracking features, including heart rate monitoring, SpO2 measurement, sleep analysis, and more.
- Wear OS: Supports Google’s Wear OS, providing access to a vast array of apps and services, including Google Assistant, Google Pay, and message notifications.
What we are not so hot about…
However, the Ticwatch Pro 3’s design may not appeal to everyone. While it’s lighter compared to its predecessor, its size can still be cumbersome for those with smaller wrists. Make no mistake, this is a bulky watch and those with smaller wrists may want to avoid this. It will be cumbersome and uncomfortable for some during extended wear.
Additionally, the price point might be a consideration for some, positioning it at the higher end of the market.
Cons:
- Size and Weight: Some may find the watch bulky and heavy, particularly on smaller wrists, affecting comfort during extended wear.
- Wear OS Limitations: Despite improvements, Wear OS can still be inconsistent in performance and app availability compared to other platforms.
- Battery Life in Smart Mode: While the battery life is commendable, heavy usage, especially with the AMOLED display, can drain the battery faster than you might expect.
- Price: The Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra comes at a premium price point, which may be a consideration for those on a budget.
