Top 5 Best 24-inch All-In-One (AIO) Desktop PCs with Core i7 Processors

Share Our Post

If space is an issue, an All-In-One desktop PC with 24-inch or smaller displays is what you need. There are quite a few models to choose from. In this post, we focus mainly on those with the powerful Intel Core i7 processors.

Taking a full-size computer and jamming it behind a monitor or into a small box under the display is no mean feat. Using mainly parts designed for laptops, manufacturers are able to do this and inject a bit of designer prowess while at it. Who says only Apple can make beautiful and functional tech.

HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer and ASUS are all having a go and making their own mark in the All-In-One desktop category. Each with their own unique design, these AIOs are a far cry from the beige or black tower boxes we are used to.

AIO stage

With the right parts i.e. Intel Core i7 processor, sufficient memory at 8GB or more and plenty of storage, 128GB SSD or more with 1TB HDD or more, you are looking at a fully capable desktop. One that could be your main computer at home or in the office.

What’s more, these beautifully designed and ultra slim AIOs not only look like the conventional monitor, they work like one too. With both HDMI in and HDMI out ports they are fully flexible. Should you require a second monitor or would like to share your presentation, connect the HDMI output to an external monitor or big screen TV.

If you live in a tiny apartment or house, you can even turn the AIO into a TV screen for your set top box, gaming console or streamer. Simply plug it into the HDMI input port. Unfortunately, there is only one HDMI input, unlike your TV so you have to choose wisely or use an optional HDMI switcher shown below.

Understanding the Intel Core i7 Processor Performance

To better understand the performance of the different Intel Core i7 processors and how it compares to Intel Core i5 processors, we have prepared the following performance figures based on Average CPU Mark, a benchmark by PassMark Software.

Processor Average CPU Mark
Intel Core i7-8700T @ 2.40GHz 12742
Intel Core i7-8750H @ 2.20GHz 12477
Intel Core i7-8550U @ 1.80GHz 8297
Intel Core i5-8265U @ 1.60GHz 8107
Intel Core i5-8250U @ 1.60GHz 7679

Source: PassMark Software

Using the chart below, you can see that hexa-core Core i7 parts lead the performance table by 53.57%, a considerable margin compared to a quad-core Core i7. The same hexa-core Core i7 also leads its Core i5 counterpart by 57.17%. Desktops with Core i7 may cost more but you get quite a big leap in performance especially when there are 6 cores vs 4 cores.

Let’s take a look at the top 5 best AIOs in the market right now.

1. Dell Inspiron 24 5000 All-in-One PC 23.8-inch (Intel Core i7)

The 5000 series may be the mid-range option sitting between the 3000 and 7000 series but this Dell Inspiron 24 5000 with Intel Core i7 8700T is anything but mid-range. Not only does it come with a hexa-core processor with 12MB cache, clocks in at 2.4GHz with a turbo boost frequency of up to 4.0Ghz, it also has a discrete graphics card, the GeForce GTX 1050 with 4GB GDDR5 dedicated graphics memory. Elsewhere, you get 16GB DDR4 memory, super fast 128GB/256GB SSD storage and a spacious 1TB HDD storage. There 23.8-inch Full HD display is wrapped in what Dell term’s InfinityEdge bezel, super narrow black bezel that puts the display forward and nothing else. To achieve this, it adopts a pop-up mechanism for the web cam so it can be hidden away when not in use and give it that virtually borderless top bezel. If you prefer your gaming console, HDMI-in port lets you turn the Inspiron into a Full HD monitor. The unit is not short of ports either as it has six USB ports including one Type-C and USB3.1 with PowerShare on the side, 2 USB 2.0 and 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 on the rear.

However, the slightly cheaper model has equally convincing specs. It comes with 8GB RAM and a combination of 2TB and 256GB SSD storage. The more expensive model also has dedicated AMD Radeon 530 with 2GB GDDR5 memory.

Design wise, you get an ultra thin All-In-One PC in stylish space grey, more compact than some conventional monitors at the same size. The 23.8-inch Full HD display is ultra thin with near zero bezel except for the bottom bezel which carries the web cam and speakers. The Lenovo 730s is definitely one of the smallest we have seen. The only let down is in the sound department, the dual 3W speakers just do not hack it.

The system is configured with 8GB DDR4 RAM memory, 128GB fast M.2 SSD storage and 1TB Hard Disk Drive. All those components are packed in a slim body no bigger than a conventional monitor with all its ports found on the back panel. Not only is the stylish unibody design slim, it wraps the 23.8-inch Full HD touchscreen monitor with a frameless NanoEdge bezel finished in Quartz Grey. All that is supported by a solid-metal stand. The 2mm thin bezel is one of the smallest giving the AIO a high 90% screen-to-body ratio. This makes the entire unit more compact than some 22-inch monitors.

To achieve the NanoEdge display design, the unit uses a pop-up web cam that can be hidden when not in use. The camera incorporates an infrared sensor for face-recognition technology required for Windows Hello password free login. And if all that is not enough, ASUS squeezed in the gaming grade NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics for good measure.
